Waitrose confirm new shop in former co-working space
For many people, 1-3 Gloucester Road will forever be the former Maplin.
Most recently used as the Future Leap co-working and events space, the building between the Prince of Wales and the Grecian will soon be turned into a Waitrose.
Located almost directly opposite a Sainsbury’s and only a few hundred metres from a Co-Op, the store will be branded as a ‘Little Waitrose’ like an existing shop in Clifton, with a larger Waitrose supermarket in Westbury Park (or is it in Henleaze?).
Future Leap still have a co-working space on Oakfield Road in Clifton, with Bristol24/7 previously based in Future Leap on Gloucester Road which closed at the end of January.
Waitrose say that their new shop will be in St Andrew’s. This corner of Bristol close to the arches is sandwiched between Montpelier and St Andrew’s, with Redland and Bishopston the other side of Gloucester Road.

A Waitrose spokesperson said: “We have wanted to open a shop in St Andrew’s for a long time and can’t wait to welcome local people to enjoy the great food and service we pride ourselves on.
“We look forward to sharing more news when we can.”
