Firefighters were called to the scene on Bond Street close to the start of the M32 shortly after 11am.

Roads around the area were closed and traffic was stationary in many other areas of the city as firefighters dealt with the blaze.

Thick black smoke could be seen across Bristol.

Soon before 1pm, some of the cordons were removed but the charred remains of the white van remained on the opposite side of the road.
