Police patrol presence was increased on the streets in a bid to reassure residents and specialist family liaison officers will be supporting the victim’s family.

The incident has also been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) because of previous police contact – a force spokesperson said this is standard procedure in these circumstances.
