Two dead and child among three injured after explosion
Two adults are dead and three people including a child injured after an explosion at a house on Sunday morning.
Officers were called to a domestic-related incident on Sterncourt Road in Frenchay at 6.17am, but shortly before they arrived and a little after 6.30am there was an explosion in the house.
A man and woman were killed, and a further man, woman and child taken to hospital for minor injuries. Families of the deceased have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Residents were evacuated shortly afterwards, with the street closed off by a police cordon.
Police are treating the incident as suspicious, but are not looking for anyone else in connection with it and are not treating it as a suspected terrorism incident.
Sterncourt Road is expected to be cordoned off until at least Sunday evening while police carry out enquiries.
A bomb disposal unit also did a precautionary search of the street.

Enquiries are being carried out at a property in Speedwell which is linked to the man who died.
Evacuated residents were temporarily moved a nearby pub before a more permanent rest centre was set up for them.
Some left in such a hurry that there were still in their pyjamas, and had to borrow day clothes from friends.
Superintendent Matt Ebbs said: “We know this incident will be of great concern to those living in the affected communities. Our neighbourhood policing teams will be carrying out patrols to provide reassurance and advice. If anyone is worried or concerned, please speak to an officer.
“We’d like to thank our emergency service colleagues, the British Army, and our colleagues at Bristol City Council, for their support and expertise in responding to this challenging incident.”
