Three people arrested after man shot

By Martin Booth  Thursday Apr 2, 2026

A huge police search for a gunman on the run has ended with the arrest of three people including one man on suspicion of attempted murder.

The search began after a gun was fired at a car by a man on an e-scooter on Speedwell Road at 1.47pm on Wednesday afternoon; with the injured man remaining in hospital with serious injuries.

A man in his 20s was arrested just after 2.30am on Thursday morning on suspicion of attempted murder, and another man and a woman in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police say their enquiries are continuing and a crime scene remains in place at St Anne’s Wood but they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shooting.

An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We understand that this may have been a very concerning incident, but we have deployed a significant number of resources as part of our response, including the National Police Air Service helicopter, specially-trained firearms officers and drone units.

“We continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward, including anyone with footage of the incident. If you can help, please call 101 and quote reference 5226089476.”
