Thousands of pounds already raised to help rebuild St Paul’s Adventure Playground

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Apr 14, 2020

DIY SOS star Mark Millar has pledged to help with the rebuilding of St Paul’s Adventure Playground after much of it was destroyed in an arson attack.

The carpenter’s support comes as a crowdfunding campaign started by a 16-year-old volunteer at the playground has raised more than £13,000.

Stan Jones said that all of the money raised “will go directly to the organisation keeping the playground functional”.

For Millar, who lives in Bristol, before the fire on on Saturday afternoon the playground “was such a vibrant and positive place to be with your kids. The play equipment they had was second to none.”

He told BBC Radio Bristol that the site has been “totally decimated” after several fires were deliberately started.

He said: “The space they had for an inner-city playground was absolutely out of this world and now this has happened…

“We can get it up out of the ground again.”
