New mural celebrates Rastafari elder
A month celebrating the life of an inspirational Rastafari elder culminated in the unveiling of a new mural in St Paul’s.
Ras Bandele Selassie founded the Rastafari Culture Centre on Grosvenor Road and ran it for nearly three decades.
The mural on one side of the centre was the idea of Ras Bandele’s wife and daughter and was painted by Olas Art, Uri Green and DNT75, aiming to represent the unity that Ras Bandele stood for.
“From a child, I’ve always found ways to create things for my Dad,” wrote Zion Lioness on Instagram.
“This mural was something me and my mum put together – the vision, the meaning, the message.
“This mural is one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever created for him.”
