The incredible story of Dark Cloud
If you want to find Dark Cloud these days, he is likely to be sitting in the window of Cafe Kino on Stokes Croft.
But his journey to Bristol – where he is believed to be the only person of First Nation heritage living in our city – has been an almost unbelievable tale of tragedy, fortune, crime and love.
At the age of just two, he was taken from Canada as a victim of the infamous Sixties Scoop, which saw many indigenous children forcibly separated from their families; growing up in Singapore, later travelling across Europe, being homeless on the streets of London and spending time in Horfield Prison.

A short drama is currently being filmed about Dark Cloud’s story called Split Feather, the name that his Ojibwe tribe gave him when he returned to Canada, meaning he is Indian on the outside but not the inside because he has never lived the traditional way.
