Stab victim’s assailant receives jail sentence

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Mar 21, 2017

A teenager who stabbed an 18-year-old man in St Philips has received an eight year sentence at Bristol Crown Court.

Cassius Fisher, then 17, along with three other males on bikes, chased the victim from Old Market to Talavera Close in St Philips. The victim was punched to the ground and then stabbed four times in the leg, chest and hand.

A jury found Fisher guilty of causing grievous bodily harm, and sentenced him to eight years in prison.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Jay Jackson of Avon and Somerset Police, said: “The number of young people carrying knives, or involved in knife crime, remains too high.

“We do a lot of work as a Force in trying to educate young people on the clear dangers of carrying knives, including hosting hard-hitting workshops in schools which show the impact these crimes have on individuals, families and communities.

“The victim in this case is lucky not to have suffered more serious or even fatal injuries and I hope this outcome shows how seriously the police and the courts take violent crimes involving knives.”
