Sleep Out returns to raise funds for young people facing homelessness
An annual fundraising event challenging people to spend a night sleeping outdoors in support of young people experiencing homelessness will return to Bristol in autumn.
1625 Independent People’s annual Sleep Out will take place at Lloyds Amphitheatre on November 5.
Businesses, individuals and community groups are being invited to raise money for services supporting vulnerable young people across the South West.
is needed now More than ever
According to figures from Centrepoint’s annual Youth Homelessness Databank, around 13,800 people aged 16 to 24 in the South West presented to local authorities as homeless or at risk of homelessness.
1625 Independent People said a young person in the UK experiences homelessness every four minutes, with money raised from the event helping to provide accommodation, mental health support and other services for those at risk.
Organisers reiterated that the event is not intended to “recreate the experience of homelessness”, but to encourage participants to show solidarity with young people facing housing insecurity, trauma and instability.
Those taking part will hear from young people supported by the charity, as well as its chief executive, Dom Wood, before spending the night outdoors at Bristol’s Harbourside.

The sleep out will also feature live music, street food and a silent disco
