Shakespeare Week flash mob at SS Great Britain
Excerpts from The Tempest were performed by children next to the stern of the SS Great Britain.
It was part of a flash mob to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Shakespeare Week, with thespians from Year 3 at Hotwells Primary School also taking part in a circus workshop from Bristol’s world famous Circomedia.
The SS Great Britain was just one of multiple venues across the UK hosting a flash mob, with other performances at locations including Westminster Abbey in London, the Lowry Museum in Manchester and Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Shakespeare Week project manager at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Sally Gray, said: “It is exciting to be collaborating with so many cultural organisations and schools across the UK to launch Shakespeare Week celebrations.
“It’s thrilling to see our partners and schools come together and be part of the flash mobs.

Gray added: “Over the past ten years, we have reached hundreds of thousands of children and teachers, helping to make children’s first experience with Shakespeare a positive one, and we look forward to continuing to impact the lives of new generations through the power of Shakespeare.”
