Rubbish strewn across Bristol parks after snow melts

By Bristol24/7  Monday Mar 5, 2018

Brandon Hill was a picture of merriment last week as it was covered with a blanket of snow.

But 48 hours later the scene is not as idyllic, with rubbish strewn across the park after the sledders have gone home and the snow has melted.

The morning after the days before

Bristol24/7 reader Dave Roberts, who lives in Cliftonwood, sent us these two photos.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!

He said: “As a regular visitor to Brandon Hill to walk my dog I am really appreciative of this great resource in the heart of the city, splendid views superbly maintained and a constant reminder of the diverse nature of the people of Bristol.

“When it snowed last week dozens took to their makeshift sledges, and canteen trays! It was great that Brandon Hill could also provide such fun for so many.

“I returned there on Sunday when the snow had all but melted and was immensely depressed to see how the area had been abused, with piles of rubbish all over.”

Dave added: “How can mostly young people be so neglectful and disrespectful of this beautiful spot? Next, the council will close the hill to anything that might attract large numbers. How sad. but who could blame them?”
