Our New Year’s Resolution
For people who spend all their time reporting what’s happening in this fantastic city that we call home, we’re not very good at talking about what we’re up to ourselves here at Bristol24/7.
Our New Year’s resolution is to be less shy.
In that spirit we’re going to go say that we’re quite pleased with ourselves. Since we started towards the end of 2014, we have:
– Published 28 magazines, each with a readership of around 70,000 Bristolians
– Our monthly unique users to www.bristol247.com have grown to more than 200,000 unique users
– We now have well over 100,000 followers across social media, with hundreds of new people following us each week
– Combined, the reach of our social media is usually well over one million every month.
These numbers boggle our brains but it’s nice to know that most people in Bristol are now engaging with our content in print and online, and that we’ve been able to build our audience without compromising on our editorial independence.
We try to represent as many of the diverse communities in Bristol as possible but of course we have only scratched the surface so far.
Set up as a Community Interest Company, we have always wanted Bristol24/7 to be more than just a website and magazine, and this year we are launching our social impact agenda to try and make a real difference in the city.
And we need your help.
Next month, a full-time Partnership Manager will be joining our team to look after our social impact roles and responsibilities.
We’ll be looking to partner up with as many charities, community interest companies, cultural institutions, education centres, council departments, youth centres, volunteering groups, businesses and a wide and diverse range of individuals (you) to see how we can work together for positive change in the city.
The aim is to make Bristol better with a particular focus on helping those that need it most and amplifying the voices of marginalised people and communities, which are too often unheard in the mainstream media.
So, we need to hear from you.
We want to hear your stories and opinions. As well as hearing what you think is great about this city, we also want to hear what you think is broken and the people that you feel need support or a platform.
Bring us your ideas on what can be done to make things better and let us know who you think we should be working with this year.
The best way of sharing your ideas is by emailing mail [email protected], giving us a call on 0117 2309 247 or popping into our office in the Paintworks for a cup of tea.
Let’s all ensure that this is one New’s Year resolution we can all keep.
