‘Help us make your pubic spaces safe’

A misspelled sign has given a lot of people a laugh on social media.

The digital advertising board on Penn Street opposite the main entrance to Cabot Circus shares advice from Bristol City Council about precautions we can take during the coronavirus pandemic.

But instead of saying ‘Help us make your public spaces safe’, the sign appears to read ‘Help us make your pubic spaces safe’.

The only problem with the misspelling is that it’s fake, with the picture editing clearly able to be seen in a chunk of reflection missing where the ‘l’ in ‘public’ is meant to be.

“It is photoshopped,” Bristol City Council confirmed. “But it gave us a laugh/minor heart attack.”
