Hazelgrove gains Filton and Bradley Stoke from Lopresti
On a night of new gains around the country, Filton and Bradley Stoke also turned red when Labour’s Claire Hazelgrove beat the incumbent Jack Lopresti.
Hazelgrove’s victory marked the end of the Conservative’s 14-year domination of the seat which Lopresti had held since 2010.
Labour’s share of the vote for Filton and Bradley Stoke read 45.3 per cent marking a significant improvement from the 2019 general election.
Hazelgrove’s campaign was received a major boost with the visit of the shadow minister for children & early years, Helen Hayes in June. Both Hazelgrove and Hayes met with the staff and pupils of a local nursery where Hayes vowed to tackle “childcare deserts” on both regional and national level.
Lopresti’s vote share plummeted from 49 per cent in 2019 to 25.3 per cent.
Town councillor and university student James Nelson, representing the Green Party, received 8.2 percent of the vote mirroring the Green’s overall positive performance around the country.

Jack Lopresti ,Conservative: 12,905 (25.5%)
Stephen Burge, Reform UK: 6,819 (13.5%)
James Nelson, Green Party: 4,142 (8.2%)
Benet Allen, Lib Dem: 3,596 (7.1%)
