Gun used in St George burglary

By Bristol24/7  Friday Aug 5, 2016

A gun was used in an aggravated burglary in St George which is now being linked to a stolen car in Barton Hill, police have revealed

A large part of St George was behind a cordon on Thursday, police said, after an incident at a home on Bryants Hill.

Four suspects are yet to be traced by officers who added in an updated appeal that they now believe a firearm was used.

One man remains in hospital undergoing treatment for a leg injury. His condition is not life-threatening.

Police added that the burglary is being linked with the theft of a car from a woman in Days Road, Barton Hill, 20 minutes before the suspected burglary took place. The vehicle has since been recovered and is being forensically examined.

Witnesses reported helicopters circulating in St George for much of Wednesday night, and one man added that he saw people carried out from a house on a stretcher.

Detective inspector Duncan Wood said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the local community for their understanding and assistance while our investigation continues.

“Our investigation, which was launched on Wednesday, continues and people are likely to see an increased police presence in the St George area.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who either saw the car being stolen or saw anything suspicious in Bryant’s Hill on Wednesday evening.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, could be crucial to helping us locate the offenders.”
