Cotham Hill pedestrianisation praised by Active Travel England
“A continental cafe feel” has been created on Cotham Hill since it was pedestrianised according to the government’s executive agency responsible for making walking, wheeling and cycling the preferred choice for everyone to get around.
Cotham Hill features in a video made by Active Travel England under the banner ‘streets for living’.
It is claimed in the video that 95 per cent of local residents are in favour of the pedestrianisation of the road.
Work is set to start later this year on making the pedestrianisation scheme permanent, including widening pavements, extending the closure, and installing new disabled parking and loading bays.
But not everyone is convinced (despite appearing to confuse Cotham Hill with Princess Victoria Street in Clifton Village).
Responding to the video on Twitter, @AMP_Parcels wrote that the pedestrianisation scheme “is poorly thought out, and has unintentionally created a goods vehicle turning area that is dangerous for vulnerable road users, and caused more congestion on adjacent Regent Street”.
