Children’s playground built in Bearpit
A roundabout has appeared within the sunken roundabout of the Bearpit.
It is not the latest attempted rejuvenation of the site, however, but part of a playground also containing swings, a slide and a climbing frame erected for the filming of an advert believed to be for O2.
On Wednesday afternoon, a camera mounted beneath a drone flew directly upwards around 100 metres into the air as a young woman sat on the roundabout while talking on her mobile phone.

A cast of extras wandered around the pretend playground as members of the public were prevented from accessing the area while filming with the octocopter was taking place.
The surroundings of the Bearpit, officially known as the St James Barton roundabout, could soon look very different, with the Premier Inn now completely demolished and a 28-storey tower built in its place, and the former Debenhams building also due to be replaced with a 28-storey tower block.
