Caravan destroyed in ‘deliberate’ fire
Charred remains are all that is left of a caravan that was destroyed by a fire on Monday evening.
No injuries were reported in the blaze on Goodneston Road in Fishponds which police suspect was deliberately started.
Avon and Somerset Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the flames and a cordon remains in place enclosing the burnt-out vehicle.
The force was called to the fire at around 5.40pm and said the caravan was unoccupied at the time, and a second was damaged.
Around 30 caravans and vans are currently parked on the road off Lodge Causeway.

CCTV and house-to-house enquiries have been carried out after the caravan was destroyed by a suspected deliberate fire, said police
Neighbourhoods’ inspector Richard Jones said: “We are aware of recent incidents on this stretch of road, and we are now working with partner agencies to improve the area.
“While we are not linking this incident to others recently, reassurance patrols will be carried out, and we are now appealing for witnesses and anybody with information to come forward.”
A spokesperson for the fire service told Bristol24/7 crews from Kingswood and Temple used two breathing apparatus, two high-pressure hose reels and two triple extension ladders to extinguish the fire.

The incident comes as the issue of vehicle dwellers has become increasingly controversial, with the number of people living in vehicles in the city believed to be around 600, up from 70 in 2017.
In response, the Green-led council has promised to open 250 temporary places for vehicle dwellers, called “meanwhile sites”, by the springtime.
Anyone with information regarding the Goodneston Road fire is asked to call the police on 5226003914 or complete an online appeals form.
