Bristol North West: 2017 General Election result

By Bristol24/7  Friday Jun 9, 2017

Darren Jones sensationally ousted Charlotte Leslie from Bristol North West with a majority of almost 5,000.

The vegan jazz saxophonist increased his share of the vote by more than 16 per cent since coming second to Leslie in 2015.

“I arrived here (at the count) to people smiling at me but I didn’t want to believe anything until I heard the declaration,” Jones said.

“Many who might not have voted Labour before, voted for me. Now, I have to deliver for them.”

The outgoing Leslie said: “Not much lasts forever in Bristol North West. I’m going to be getting my liberty in changing and turbulent times. I wish the country good luck.”
