Bristol grime artist Solo 45 charged with 29 counts of rape

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Oct 18, 2017

A Bristol grime artist has been charged with 29 counts of rape against four different women.

Andy Anokye, known by the stage name Solo 45, appeared in court in July when he pleaded not guilty to four charges, including two of rape, one false imprisonment and one causing actual bodily harm.

Another three victims have since come forward and police confirmed they have charged the 31-year-old of Millennium Promenade in the Harbourside with a further 27 counts of rape – bringing the total to 29.

Solo 45 started his career as part of the collective Boy Better Know (BBK) and has worked with the likes of Wiley and Stormzy.

BBK headlined Glastonbury’s Other Stage this year, but without Solo 45, who rose to fame with the single Feed Em To The Lions in 2015.

The trial of Anokye was due to take place on Wednesday but has now been adjourned to April 16 2018.

Detectives are still keen to speak to anyone who may be able to offer information which may assist an ongoing investigation. Contact DC Ryan Matthews by calling 101 and quoting the reference 5217082649.
