Big Jeff’s message of thanks to friends and hospital staff

By Ellie Pipe  Wednesday Jul 20, 2022

Bristol’s best known gig-goer has shared a photo and message of thanks six weeks after a house fire left him with serious injuries.

Jeffrey Johns, better known as Big Jeff, has passed on his appreciation to staff at the burns unit in Morriston Hospital in Swansea, where he is said to be doing well and is now able to eat.

There has been an outpouring of support for the much-loved artist and live music fan in the weeks since he suffered injuries in an accidental house fire in his Totterdown home.

“He’s receiving lots of physio to assist with getting him back on his feet and mobile again,” said his parents and art manager, Lee Dodds, who shared an update on Monday.

“Jeff would like to pass on his appreciation to all the staff in the burns unit, he’s told us he couldn’t be better looked after.”

In a message to friends on Facebook, Jeff said: “Thanks for all the love and everything, looking forward to getting back to being with you guys with spirit and determination. I can’t wait to see you guys x x x x Big Jeff x.”
