Arnolfini
A pint on the cobbles outside the Arnolfini is a Bristol tradition – dangling your legs over the water’s edge as the sunset throws a shimmery path of gold across the harbour. For many, the Arnolfini’s modern, airy bar and excellent toilets will be the only glimpse they get of Bristol’s esteemed contemporary arts hub. Which is a shame, because this converted warehouse is one of Europe’s leading art centres, presenting innovative, experimental work in the visual arts, performance, dance, film, music and events, accompanied by a programme of learning and participation activities. It has five exhibition spaces, a theatre/cinema auditorium, an excellent top-floor Reading Room and Light/Dark Studios. The dockside loo on the top floor has possibly the best view of any loo in Bristol. There’s a great bookshop on the ground floor too. And of course the bar. But you knew about that already.
