Firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving more than 30 emergency calls from members of the public and tackled the blaze with foam and water jets with the aid of a turnstile ladder.

There were seven engines in attendance manned by crews from Bedminster, Temple, Kingswood and Southmead.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “A large plume of smoke is visible in the area and anyone living or working nearby is advised to close doors and windows as crews tackle the fire.”

He confirmed the cause of the fire is currently unknown and an investigation will be launched once the blaze has been brought under control.
