Air pollution documentary aims to inspire people to make a change
A filmmaker from Kingsdown has released a documentary about Bristol’s illegal levels of air pollution.
Patch de Salis teamed up with his brother, Wilf, a music composer, to make the documentary – commissioned by the Bristol Cable – during 2019 and 2020, looking at how air pollution affects people across Bristol and what can be done to protect our futures.
“I knew that air pollution is and has been a major issue within the city but I didn’t know much beyond that,” 21-year-old Patch, of PatchUp Productions, told Bristol24/7.
“I wanted to gain more of an insight and understanding so me and my brother Wilf set out to document the current state of air pollution in Bristol.
“Our aim was to deliver a film that is easy and approachable to the everyday viewer, and from there inspire people to make a change in their own life.
“Learning how air pollution affects the body and the scale of the issue has really been amazing and shocking as this is something I was not taught about elsewhere and is important to understand.
“It inspires me to cycle more and remain conscious of the air. Just because we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.”
