623-bed student accommodation unveiled

By Milan Perera  Wednesday Oct 1, 2025

A new student accommodation block, near the University of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, has been completed.

Unite Students has unveiled its £75m flagship development, Avon Point, delivering 623 student bedrooms next to the new campus, which is set to open in September 2026.

Avon Point, a short walk from the Temple Quarter campus, is expected to play a pivotal role in housing incoming students.

The scheme was delivered by lead contractor RG Group, with half of the rooms leased to the university.

Unite has also completed a £9.3m refurbishment of Cathedral Park, near Clifton Triangle, upgrading all 178 rooms alongside kitchens, bathrooms and shared amenity areas.

The Bristol-founded company’s development pipeline now stands at £925m, with 4,600 more beds planned in Russell Group cities.

Joe Lister, chief executive of Unite, said the new Bristol scheme will help ease pressure on the city’s housing market and provide students with modern, affordable accommodation.

“We’re thrilled to have opened the doors to Avon Point in time for the start of the new academic year,” Lister said.

“This modern, student-focused property offers an amazing range of facilities and is ideally situated next to Temple Meads train station and the University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter campus.”

Meanwhile, Unite’s acquisition of London-based rival Empiric Student Property, if approved by the competition watchdog, is expected to create a combined portfolio worth £10.5bn.
