Rainbow t-shirts raise money for Bristol NHS charity

By Lowie Trevena  Tuesday Jun 9, 2020

Nearly £2,500 has been raised by one woman in just two weeks for Above & Beyond.

Anne Beesely has designed and produced hundreds of t-shirts to raise money for Above & Beyond, a Bristol charity supporting frontline NHS staff and volunteers, after her design didn’t make the final cut in a national design competition.

Anne, who lives in north Bristol with her husband Mike and daughter Katherine, designed the t-shirt for the competition, run by Finsterre, which would see 300 t-shirts produced with the winning design on the front.

After the design, which had to include a swallow and rainbow, didn’t win, the family decided to order the t-shirts themselves.

All of the 250 t-shirts have now been sold, and all profits have been donated to Above & Beyond, who are supporting staff, volunteers and funding coronavirus research.

With help from husband Mike, a local businessman, and daughter Katherine, almost £2,500 has already been donated to the charity, which is working harder than ever to support the wellbeing of NHS workers.

“It’s been so amazing to see that within two weeks the t-shirts have sold out. It goes to show that people just want to help and to hear about and do something positive in these difficult times,” says Anne.

“Our NHS heroes deserve every helping hand possible and so we’re glad to have contributed in some small way.”
