Innovative made-to-order cycling apparel from Bristol

By Martin Booth  Sunday May 8, 2022

A new Bristol-based made-to-order cycling apparel brand has joined forces with an artist, photographer, musician and coffee roaster for their first drop.

Kostüme founder Ed Bartlett says that cycling apparel does not need to be boring to be functional.

The brand’s first drop, #Edit001, has been produced in collaboration with multidisciplinary design duo Kai & Sunny, with the limited release available aiming to reduce the environmental impact typically associated with apparel production.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

#Edit001, featuring state-of-the-art recycled and natural materials, consists of padded bib shorts, a short sleeve jersey, base layer, vented cap, and neck, arm and knee warmers.

The unisex, male and female-specific designs have been created by Bartlett and ex-Rapha developer and founder of Get Stuff Made, Demi Johnson.

Kostüme will commission and curate a range of content and experiences uniquely tailored to each artist and release.

#Edit001 includes interpretive photographic work from Sola, one of the UK’s leading light painting specialists, rider portraits by award-winning photographer Fergus Coyle, and a short film by cinematographer Dom John, featuring a new piece of music commissioned from Bristol electronic artist, Surgeon’s Girl.

The first 250 people who order more than £75 of Kostüme kit will receive a free bag of coffee roasted by Full Court Press on Broad Street in the Old City.
