Redmaids’ High School launches PepTalk Hotline

By Advertising Feature  Thursday Sep 28, 2023

In recognition of World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10 October, students from Redmaids’ High School, an independent school for girls in Bristol, have created a ‘PepTalk Hotline’ for the local community.

This initiative has been developed by students in Years 4, 7 and 13, and is a phone line containing a variety of pre-recorded messages, including some in Ukrainian and Somali, to brighten up your day and help give you a well-deserved ‘pick-me up’.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

The project has been overseen by the Sixth Form Well-being Ambassadors, who work closely with the school’s pastoral team to mentor and support students across the whole of Redmaids’ High.

As part of the initiative, the students spent time together discussing what encouraging words might be well received and have been really excited for this initiative to launch. The school is renowned for  having a strong sense of community and for its inclusive and supportive environment, and places a large focus on mental well-being as part of its Pastoral and PSHE programmes.

Head of PSHE, Alice Hinks said, “Across the country, there has been a dramatic increase in mental health concerns post-covid.  We are very proud of the work the students have done to get this initiative off the ground and hope that the local community can benefit from their superb words of encouragement”.

The phoneline is available now to everyone 0117 989 8257.
