World’s largest negroni made in Bristol

By Martin Booth  Sunday May 22, 2022

A lot of gin, a lot of vermouth and a lot of Campari were needed on Sunday to make the world’s largest negroni.

A bar and restaurant in Cotham and a distillery in St Nick’s Market joined forces for the ambitious record attempt, which saw the drink served to those visiting Cotham Hill Street Party as well as raising money for charity.

Rock Salt and Bristol Dry Gin were aiming to make 600 litres of the cocktail in an attempt to beating the record of a 504-litre negroni made in Arizona in 2018.

The record-breaking drink was raising funds for StreetSmart, a charity that supports homeless people in Bristol and other major UK cities.

Ed Sargent from Rock Salt loves negronis so much that he even has a negroni tattoo.

He said: “This is an excuse to have a bit of much needed fun at the street party and raise money for a charity that we are all absolutely committed to helping.”
