By Milan Perera  Monday Sep 29, 2025

Three independent Bristol-based artisan bakeries rose to the occasion by being named in the National Bakery Awards 2025.

The prestigious accolade recognises the excellence in Britain’s bakery industry.

The three Bristol artisan bakers who made the coveted shortlist are Farro, Hart’s Bakery and The Bristol Loaf.

The three bakeries are no strangers to both regional and national recognitions.

Farro, based in Brunswick Square in St Paul’s with its entrance facing Bond Street near Cabot Circus, secured a place in the highly coveted Bakers’ Dozen, a list compiled by British Baker magazine, earlier this year.

It also made the Good Food Guide 2025 list of the top 50 bakeries in Britain.

Another Bristol artisan bakery on the Good Food Guide list is Hart’s Bakery, tucked beneath two Victorian railway arches near Bristol Temple Meads. Hart’s was also named one of the UK’s most creative coffee shops in 2024.

The Bristol Loaf, founded in 2017 in Redfield, has since expanded to two further sites – East Street in Bedminster and the resident cafe at Bristol Beacon.

The artisan bakery previously won the Winner of Winners award in the Crumbs Awards 2018, which celebrates excellence among food and drink businesses in Bristol and Bath regions.

The National Bakery Awards winners will be announced at a special ceremony at Big Penny Social in London on November 25.
