Restaurant to be resurrected as ramen pop-up ends

By Karen Johnson  Thursday Feb 20, 2025

A restaurant that transitioned into a pop-up ramen joint will soon be reverting back to its original name and broadening their menu to include new dishes.

Tomo No Ramen took over the kitchen at Lucky Strike in October 2024, bringing their classic ramen to East Street.

Despite a growing number of diners, the owner of Lucky Strike announced Tomo No Ramen’s departure and the news that Lucky Strike would return with a strong Asian influence.

On a video shared on Instagram, Tom Montgomery said: “Thank you to everyone who has come down and dined with us. We’ve had some great feedback and me and the whole team have really enjoyed serving and making ramen.

“Now, James from Tomo and my plan was to transition from a pop-up to a permanent site, However, we had a chat last week and decided in the end we wouldn’t go down this route.”

Montgomery added: “Although it’s been a creative and commercial success, there are factors in our personal lives that meant the project was not going to work for either of us.

“Both of us are a bit disappointed, but we felt we had to do what is right for us and our restaurants.”

Montgomery emphasised that both the Lucky Strike and Tomo No Ramen teams remain good friends and continue to support each other.

No previous or future bookings will be hindered as the restaurant remains open. The only thing that has changed after this announcement is that the Bedminster restaurant will go back to being called Lucky Strike.

Taking note of the growing love for Japanese cuisine, Montgomery said that they would continue serving ramen.

He also hinted at plans to include other Japanese dishes like chicken katsu curry that will diversify their menu.

Lucky Strike will be hosting a single-day fine-dining pop-up called Oxalis, curated by their own chef Ciaran O’Neill, on March 16.
