Sisters planning something sugary sweet

The East St Emporium, which closed in December 2024 and remained vacant since, is to be replaced with something different entirely.

Posters on the shutters reveal that Bake it! Bristol will be opening on July 3.

Described as a baking experience that you can grab a friend and put your baking decorating skills to the test in a 90-minute competition against other teams.

All ingredients and equipment are provided, all you need to do is follow your brief as set by an experienced baker who will guide you through the challenge.

Each month will bring a different theme and brief and whoever the judges mark as top will win a prize.

Best of all, you can grab a drink beforehand at their garden themed bar, take the cake home and you don’t have to do the washing up.

Sisters Kalisha and Aleena Patel were obsessed with baking from a young age and the hobby captivated them so much that its turned into a lifelong passion which they’re excitedly now sharing with others,

Aleena, a pastry chef and baker, said they (like many) are obsessed with the Great British Bake Off and while they had been planning the business venture for the last two years, it in part inspired them.

The sisters have always wanted to go into business with one another, she adds her sisters is “more of the business brain and I’m the baking brain.”

While it is a competition, she emphasises the experience will be fun and as Aleena discusses their plans, the energy and excitement in her voice is potent.
