Restaurant closes for second time
A restaurant that was briefly also a pop-up before reverting to its original iteration only a few months ago has now announced closure.
On Thursday, Lucky Strike announced that it would be closing soon, with last orders to be taken on July 5.
The restaurant on East Street co-owned by Tom Montgomery and Matt Nicholson, opened in March 2023, but decided to shut down operations in September 2024 with plans to hopefully come back with a “new cuisine” later.
is needed now More than ever
This paved the way for a ramen pop-up by Tomo No Ramen at Lucky Strike – a partnership that was hugely appreciated.

But in February, Montgomery announced the departure of his Japanese counterpart, after he realised “project was not going to work for either of us”.
Hope was still in the air for those who enjoyed the Asian dishes at this East Street spot, as Montgomery said Lucky Strike would now be back with Japanese dishes like ramen on their menu.
But only four months after being resurrected back into its original form, the team has announced that new owners will be taking over the premises soon.
In a post shared on Instagram, they said: “Lucky Strike will have its last service on 5th July 2025.
“This will be the final iteration from Tom, Matt and the team before new owners take over the site in September.
“Thank you to everyone who visited us and enjoyed both versions of the restaurant, we made a lot of friends and happy memories! Please do pop in over the next week, even only to say goodbye.”
