Restaurant closes after just over 100 days
An independent restaurant has closed after being open for a little more than 100 days.
Rasa Kita opened on 215 Gloucester Road – a few hundred yards up from the Grace – in late February promising to bring “authentic Malaysian food” to Bristol.
However, after only 108 days in business, the owners have announced the restaurant’s closure due to rising costs.
is needed now More than ever
In a post shared on Instagram on Monday, Rasa Kita’s owners wrote they were closing “with a heavy heart”.
To hopefully reach more people, Rasa Kita had recently started trading at markets in Bath.
Their Instagram post added: “This wasn’t an easy decision, and we’re incredibly sad to say goodbye to the community we’ve loved and served.
“We gave it a good trial run for 3 months. Unfortunately, the rising costs of everything have made it impossible for us to continue operating sustainably.”
With costs being high, the team could no longer afford to serve authentic Malaysian dishes at a low price point as they intended to, thereby leading to the difficult decision to close.
The restaurant’s customers have reacted with sadness to the news.
Angiesplates wrote on Instagram: “Such a loss for Bristol!! your lovely food will be missed!”
Other customers encourages them to keep the business running as a market stall or a pop-up.
