Pioneering restaurant closes
The original Oowee Diner has closed its doors for the last time as its owners say they have outgrown its bijou location.
The takeaway on Picton Street in Montpelier opened in 2016 and has since been joined by another Oowee Diner on North Street as well as Oowee Vegan restaurants on Baldwin Street, and in London and Brighton.
Oowee Diner specialises in “deliciously dirty” burgers and have built up a cult following.
is needed now More than ever
In a statement on Instagram, Oowee founders Verity Foss and Charlie Watson said: “Yes, that’s right, sadly we’ve made the difficult decision to close our OG Picton St Diner.
“This little spot was our launchpad 9 years ago, the place where it all began, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts but the truth is, we’ve outgrown it.
“We’re passionate about continuing to evolve and develop both our business and our menu, and the size of this site has simply limited what we can do.
“With our other locations able to serve the full menu across the city, we’ve decided it’s time to focus our energy on future growth, something this space can no longer support.
“To our incredible teams and our amazing guests, thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the great times we’ve shared here. We’ll cherish them always.
“Now, we look forward to building even more memories with you at our other locations as we take this next exciting step.”
