New restaurant ‘marks new imprint on Floating Harbour’
The newly refurbished and rebranded cafe and restaurant next to the SS Great Britain is looking shipshape and Bristol fashion.
The marketing spiel for the Board Walk says that it “marks a new imprint on Bristol’s Floating Harbour”, being a “cafe by day and cocktail restaurant by night”.
It’s certainly a dramatic change from the Harbourside Kitchen that was here before, with the Board Walk now open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, and offering evening dining from Thursday to Saturday until 10.30pm.
is needed now More than ever
The challenging job for the team at the SS Great Britain is to attract visitors to the Board Walk who are not also visiting Brunel’s world famous ship.
Having a more restaurant-style experience at a tourist attraction is also a tricky task as Bristol Zoo found to their cost at their former Clifton site when the Hide opened in 2017 offering table-service only.

The Board Walk website adds: “By day, we’re your cosy neighbourhood retreat, a bright, welcoming space overlooking the Bristol Harbourside, with freshly ground coffee and homemade dishes.
“Whether you’re stopping by for an invigorating morning espresso or a light, wholesome brunch, our daytime menu is crafted to nourish and delight.
“As the sun begins to set, we welcome you to our evening restaurant, showcasing the finest British ingredients and bold, inspired flavours, cooked to perfection on our signature wood-fired grill.
“Our smoky, seasonally changing menu will offer something to suit all tastes.
“Sharing boards and small plates are our speciality, complemented by our extensive list of drinks and hand-crafted cocktails. The perfect menu and location for a summer social.”
