New French bistro promises ‘Parisian charm in every bite’
La Brousse promises authentic French cuisine with “Parisian charm in every bite”.
The new bistro on St Nicholas Street is from chef Oakan Brousse, who previously headed up the kitchen in St George’s and at the Library next door to his newly opened eponymous restaurant.
La Brousse has replaced what used to be Asian BBQ & Hotpot and is from the same team behind that former restaurant and also nearby Mugshot as well as the Library and the planned St Mary Le Port Hotel.
is needed now More than ever
Brousse promises to “bring his French roots and modern flair to every dish, blending classic techniques with seasonal ingredients and a warm, neighbourhood feel”.
The bistro’s website says “it’s all about good food, great company and a little Bristol charm”.
Its opening menu includes beef bourbignon (£12.50), Cornish turbot (£28) and steak au poivre (£35); with a current lunch deal of a croque monsieur or goat’s cheese tartine with a 125ml glass of wine for £12.50.
The home of La Brousse on 10 St Nicholas Street was also previously the location of steakhouse Chomp and was the first location of Las Iguanas which first opened here in 1991 before becoming a nationwide chain.
