New eatery opens on the site of beloved Indian restaurant

By Karen Johnson  Wednesday Jun 18, 2025

A new restaurant has opened in what used to be a beloved Indian restaurant.

At Hotwells Eatery on Jacob’s Wells Road, customers can choose from an array of delicious options ranging from burgers and full English to thalis and hot dogs.

The new restaurant has opened on the site of the Indian restaurant Chai Shai, which was a neighbourhood favourite ever since its opening in 2014.

Since Chai Shai closed, the site has remained empty.

Hotwells Eatery is positioned between the former House of Flavours and tailors All Stitched Up and is only a stone’s throw away from the pub Bag of Nails.
