Miss Millie’s gives a very Bristol welcome to Popeyes
One of Bristol’s oldest fried chicken chains has clucked back at Popeyes.
On Friday, American fast food chain Popeyes opened its first Bristol location at Avonmeads retail park.
Two more locations are expected to open in Clifton and Longwell Green soon.
Miss Millie’s, however, has been a Bristol staple since 1988 and has eight locations across the city as well as others in Scotland, Southampton and the South West.
To welcome Popeyes to Avonmeads, Miss Millie’s booked a slot on a digital billboard along the Avonmeads flyover at the same time as the new restaurant’s launch.

The billboard read: “Trump? Popeyes? That’s two orange Americans too many”
Miss Millie’s said: “We wanted to welcome Popeyes to the city with a bit of Bristol charm – we’re so proud of how fiercely independent the city is, and to have been part of it for so long, so we thought we’d give them a proper Bristol welcome.”
