The role food education can play in creating lasting change
Square Food Foundation is rallying people working across Bristol’s food sector in a renewed call for collective action to tackle food insecurity.
At a recent event at Square Food Foundation’s kitchen at the Park on Daventry Road in Knowle West, the charity renewed its commitment to use high-quality food education as a long-term solution to tackling food insecurity and building more resilient communities.
Guests included Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy and Hillfields councillor Ellie King alongside organisations such as FareShare South West, Feeding Bristol, Bristol Food Network and Team Canteen.
is needed now More than ever
The event also marked the beginning of a new chapter, as Square Food founder Barny Haughton steps back from the day-to-day running of the organisation.
Square Food Foundation managing director, Eloise Morton, said: “We have always believed the power of food and cooking can change lives.
“But we now have a renewed determination to prove, once and for all, that so many of the challenges we face today can be met by reconnecting with food, cooking and each other.
“To do this, we’ve put our money where our mouth is by investing our hard-earned savings into growing the team, and strengthening our ability to build lasting partnerships, because if we’re going to make real change, we can’t do it alone.”
