Cafe opens staffed by people with lived experience of justice system
A new cafe has been opened by a charity “on a mission to reduce reoffending by bridging the gap between prison, employment and rehabilitation with training and holistic support”.
The Key Cafe is staffed by people with lived experience of the justice system.
The cafe on Gloucester Road is only a stone’s throw from Bristol Prison, with many products on the shelves made by inmates.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday, the Key Cafe serves coffee made in partnership with Montpelier-based roaster Triple Co.
Specials on the second day of opening on Thursday were a sourdough flatbread topped with courgette, ricotta, lemon preserve, tomato and mozzarella (£5.50) and filled rolls for £5.75.
“Visiting us helps transform lives and support rehabilitation,” say the Key team.
“You’re not just enjoying good food, you’re helping unlock potential.”
