Bristol gets its first ‘beer bike’
It costs £450 for an hour-long ride in Bristol’s first beer bike which gets you as much beer as you can drink in those 60 minutes of pedalling from a self-storage unit in St Jude’s to Queen Square and back.
Bristol Beer Bike is the first of its kind in our city following a trend in European countries which has seen the vehicles banned in Prague and Amsterdam following the contraptions becoming a “public order problem”.
But there are no such problems yet in Bristol with the bike steered by a sober driver able to seat up to 17 people, with a “pretty barmaid” or “handsome waiter” able to join you on your ride for an extra £50.
The Bristol Beer Bike journey starts at Safestore on Pennywell Road in St Jude’s and takes in the sights of Wade Street, Broadmead, Castle Park and the Old Market roundabout.
As well as the waitress or waiter, other extras include extra seats, swapping beer for wine or prosecco, and the addition of crisps:
