Bristol’s first ‘drag diner’ opening soon

By Martin Booth  Saturday May 17, 2025

Bristol’s first ‘drag diner’ is due to open soon promising to “offer more of an experience than any other restaurant”.

The previous Dorothy’s Diner in Liverpool was only open for five months in 2024.

It is not known if this version at the bottom of Park Street in Bristol is from the same team behind that failed venture but it does have exactly the same branding.

The original Dorothy’s Diner in Liverpool had a 1950s Americana theme, accessorised by plenty of pink, with customers served and entertained by drag queens.

On the menu were burgers, hot dogs and alcoholic milkshakes as well as bottomless brunches.

In an interview with the Liverpool Echo in August 2024, the Dorothy’s Diner Liverpool owner, who did want to give their name, said the venue “was a new and exciting entertainment-style restaurant”.

“Unfortunately, during the refurbishment of the property, I fell ill and embarked on a long and extensive diagnosis period with no diagnosis in sight.

“I still believe wholeheartedly in the concept which has proven to be extremely popular with customers with a string of future bookings already received.

“However, with building pressure from my doctors and family to manage my stress levels correctly I had no choice but to close the doors.

“Dorothy’s brought smiles to many people and this is a credit to its staff and amazing drag queens. I’m just sorry I wasn’t well enough to have taken the driver’s seat myself.”
