Bristol chef named as one of 17 to watch in 2017

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Jan 3, 2017

Elliot Lidstone of Box-E has been named by Olive magazine as one of the top 17 chefs to look out for in 2017.

The 17 have been chosen for their new restaurants, inspiring flavours and exciting creativity.

Box-E opened in two converted shipping containers in Cargo in October and was named by Bristol24/7 as the third best new restaurant of last year.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Olive say that “at Box-E, Elliot and his wife Tessa have created a restaurant which in every detail is their personal vision.

“Elliot’s seasonal, modern British food is technically elevated but approachable and the couple want Box-E to be somewhere where they can share their enthusiasm for everything from making bread to quince vodka.”

Lidstone was most recently head chef at London’s Empress bar and kitchen which holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. He trained at Chewton Glen in Hampshire before moving on to L’Ortolan in Berkshire.

Michelin inspectors are already eyeing up Box-E:

And how about this for a way to have spent New Year’s Eve?
