Gloucester Road Central are hosting their annual Christmas party on Thursday, December 4 from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
The area runs from Pigsty Hill up to Craft Works and includes cafes, art galleries, gift shops and furniture makers to fresh fruit and veg shops, hardware stores and bike shops.
Sarah Thorp runs Room 212, a gallery, shop, creative space and focal point of Gloucester Road, and is one of the main organisers of the Christmas party.
“It’s to launch the festive season and to encourage local shopping,” Sarah says. “Almost every customer who comes into my shop says they plan to do all their Christmas shopping on Gloucester Road.”
Shops will be open late for the evening, with loads of fun and activities for all ages. From kids’ activities to mulled wine, arts and crafts, carol singing from Bishop Road Community Choir, roasted chestnuts, Christmas cakes from local bakers and traders, and lots of festive cheer.
This will be the first of many late openings on Glos Rd Central in the run up to Christmas. Follow them on Twitter to keep up to date with events: @glosrdcentral.
