The Weston Studio to be candlelit for a night of ghost stories
Writer-centred theatre company HighTide and rural touring company Pentabus are joining forces to bring another tranche of contemporary ghost stories to stages around the UK, all lit by flickering candlelight.
The four writers behind these latest tales are the multi award-winning Florence Espeut-Nickless (Destiny), George Devine award winner Simon Longman (Falling Falling Falling Falling), acclaimed writer/performer Anne Odeke (Princess Essex), and HighTide Writers Group Alumni Rosa Torr (RATTUS RATTUS).
Artistic director of Pentabus, BAFTA award winner and an associate artist of Shakespeare’s Globe, Elle While is directing this latest iteration of the show – which is now in its third consecutive year. For her as a lifelong fan of the unexplainable, working on Even More Ghost Stories by Candlelight felt like a natural fit.

“Growing up in rural Herefordshire”, she reflects, “the supernatural was forever around the corner, and I’ve always loved the possibilities of stories that question beyond the rational.
“Getting to know the people and places of these contemporary ghost stories by the immeasurable talents of Anne, Flo, Rosa and Simon has already been a great joy and I can’t wait to delve deeper and hopefully bring about a show filled with intrigue and surprises.”
The show will be performed by Keaton Guimarães-Tolley and Sarita Gabony, and the creative team includes sound from Anna Short, lighting from Jonathan Chan and set and costume from Lu Herbert.

Illusions for the production are designed by the Oliver Award-winning John Bulleid, who has previously created breathtaking stage magic for West End successes including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
HighTide artistic director Titilola Dawadu is full of expectation for the upcoming tour, which visits 16 destinations in October and early November. “There’s something so special about coming together to share stories that have themes that will resonate and are deeply moving, and full of heart – all with a haunting twist!” she says.
“Keaton and Sarita will move, delight and frighten audiences across the country.”
