Storytelling extraordinaire Clare Murphy is back in Bristol with ‘The Liar King’
Now based in Bristol, Irish storyteller Clare Murphy has been telling stories for two decades – working in more than 20 countries around the world.
Her previous shows have included many contemporary takes on ancient myth and wisdom, as well as ideas emerging from quantum physics and history.
Discussing the art of storytelling, her recent appearance on The Blindboy Podcast increased her fanbase further, as did her recent sold-out Irish tour of The Spanking Goddess & Other Discarded Tales, which is soon set to be made into a book with New Island Press.
Returning to The Wardrobe Theatre on April Fool’s Day, Murphy will be presenting her adaptation of the novel Damascus Nights by exiled Syrian writer, Rafik Schami.
The Liar King: Disrupting Power, One Story at a Time promises to blend contemporary reporting and folklore with “a witty satire on the nature of power and stupid kings”.
