Farewell SWX, hello Electric Bristol

One of Bristol’s biggest music venues has rebranded.

SWX is now Electric Bristol, with its owners saying that the name change “marks a new chapter for the venue, cementing its status as a major player in the UK’s live touring scene”.

The Nelson Street venue is part of the Electric Group which is also behind Electric Brixton and NX Newcastle.

Electric Group CEO and co-founder, Dominic Madden, said: “It’s so important that music venues evolve with the times.

“Rebranding SWX as Electric Bristol is a natural progression, and we’re excited for Mike Weller’s curated approach to late-night programming.”

Mike Weller is Electric Group’s head of music, who highlighted upcoming shows include Dot to Dot Festival, Magdalena Bay, Waxahatchee, Blondshell and Nova Twins, as well as “an exciting club schedule” due to be revealed in September 2025.
