Creative lockdown: Sam Eason

By Lowie Trevena  Friday May 15, 2020

Sam Eason is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.

A musician who has been living and gigging in Bristol for more than ten years has recorded an EP while in lockdown.

Sam Eason, who lives in High Littleton, recorded the Comfort in Chaos EP while taking annual leave from his job after “trying to work from home and not coping brilliantly well”, to send “a little virtual hug for those going through various negative feelings, particularly at this time”.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Sam, who in recent years has written many songs about his mental health struggles, released the first song, (You Are) Enough, on May 9, ahead of the EP’s release on May 22.

Sam says: “(You Are) Enough is about trying not to measure yourself against others, letting go of what you beat yourself up about and concentrating on all that’s good about yourself and being proud.”

He made the music video using clips that fans sent to him via social media.

“I’m really proud of the video and the EP, even if it is all very DIY and recorded on my iPad in a bit of a rush,” Sam says. “It’s validated my reasons for putting it out.

“I started writing the EP as a ‘pep talk’ for myself but it’s ended up being something I wanted to get out as quick as possible after seeing how much others were feeling the same as me.”
